Dylan July 12, 2017 Hackathons Announcing the First Cross-country Payment Hackathon in Australia We are thrilled to announce our next big hackathon – August 11-13th in Australia! Together with the Australian Payments Council, which counts the country’s largest financial service providers among its members, our TESOBE team will host an hackathon event over a long weekend in two locations: Sydney and Melbourne. Up to 200 participants will be invited to Improve the Lives of Australians with data available through the Open Bank Project Industry Sandbox technology. The best overall application in each city will be awarded with a cash prize of $5,000. I have visited Australia for the first time about a year ago. Besides some other-worldly landscapes and peculiar word abbreviations, it has a thriving Fintech community, a modern banking sector and something like PSD2-in-the-making. This hackathon event and industry sandbox are thus a unique opportunity to bring together the most prominent financial services institutions in the continent with the wider Fintech community for two days of experimentation, collaboration and foresight. The hackathon is driven by 12 members of the Australian Payments Council: ANZ, Bendigo, Coles, CBA, Cuscal, NAB, eftpos, MasterCard, RBA, Suncorp, and Tyro Payments, Westpac. For this financial institutions, Open Banking is not seen as an end in itself but as a formidable enabler to foster a much-needed collaboration! If you are in Australia and want to join, please register by 6 August here improvinglifewithdata.com.au/ Hooroo!
